The Maximum Principle and Optimal Gradient Estimates of Solutions to the Insulated Conductivity Problem
Source: arxiv.org/abs/2611.06016
We study the insulated conductivity problem with two unit spherical inclusions embedded in a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with $n\ge3$. The gradient of solutions may blow up as the distance between the two inclusions goes to zero. We introduce bispherical coordinates and expand the solution in spherical harmonics. Then we use the maximum principle to give a new proof of the optimal gradient estimate obtained by Dong-Li-Yang.
